All the football-inspiration behind Gosha Rubchinskiy third drop The Russian stylist looked back at the glorious Kappa partnership with Juventus and Barcelona for his new creations
Just a few days ago we talked about new Kappa Kontroll collection, an homage to Juventus and to the glorious 90s, where Juve was the principal sponsor of the Italian brand. But not the only one. Also Manchester City and Porto for example, were sponsored by Kappa, as the Italian National Team during the Korean World Cup. The other great team that wore Kappa was the Barcelona. The team of Ronaldo, Romario, Guardiola and a young Mourinho. If compared to that years, Kappa has lost some of its football relevance, even if it is still present in a lot of Serie A clubs (like Napoli).
However, thanks to the “fashionable” trend of football, Kappa is gaining more and more relevance in another market share: the fashion one. And they’re doing it also with the help of important collaboration, like the one with Gosha Rubchinskiy. The football matrix of every Gosha work matches perfectly with Kappa tradition, as you can see from the last drop, available on Dover Street Market.
We tried to identify the clearer inspiration behind some pieces of the collection
Juventus jacket
With Barcelona, Kappa produced some of its most memorable kits. So memorable to go directly up to the Gosha collection. In this picture, in fact you can see Mourinho with a training kit really similar to the one proposed by the Russian stylist.
Kappa jersey
Then there is the jersey. In the Gosha collection there are some really classical models, minimal, with the logo repeated along the sleeves. Also this element came from the football world, and the best example is this rare Juventus jersey.
