The Showtime is back to LA The first images of LeBron James's Lakers uniforms, in the Icon, Association and Statement editions
It's a hot night at the end of July and while the offices empty and the subway fills, only a few brave people have the courage to get out there to take a few shots for an imporvised three against three. But as Italian NBA fans doze, overseas you never sleep, especially in the City of Angels, where everyday is perfect for a nice surprise. Last night, in fact, the first NBA uniform for the 2018/2019 season was presented - with the exception of the Hornets 'classic' version - made once again by Nike. The Showtime is back in LA.

The first uniforms launched were, of course, the ones that will be sporting for the first time LeBron James, who some weeks ago shocked for the third time the NBA world with his decision to join the Californian team. To celebrate such an important moving, Nike and Lakers decided to pay homage to the 80s, that's to say to Showtime, when Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made the Lakers win 5 titles in nine years. For the next season, the Lakers maintain the structure of three uniforms: Icon, Association and Statement, that will be later joined also by the 'Classic'.
Icon Edition
The jersey made to represent Lakers' letter of (winning) intents is the one that will most likely make all purists' noses turn. While the purple part with yellow writings and font - here with a white shadow - follows Lakers' legacy, things change in the black side section, which might attract negative comments from the most fussy supporters.
