Sponsormania: Panasonic All the teams that had the name of the electronic company on their shirts
In 1918 a company was founded in Osaka which was destined to become a leading brand in the electronics industry: Panasonic. The definitive explosion of the brand took place only in the second post-war period, when Panasonic founder Kōnosuke Matsushita decided to change the name of the products that were distributed in the United States (at the time called ''National'') due to a brand already registered by another company.
Sports sponsorships were a "late" marketing choice, especially when it comes to football: the first investments were in fact dedicated to Formula 1 and in particular to the Toyota team, another historic Japanese company. Only at the turn of the 1980s did we begin to look at the green rectangle, first by focusing on some European team of smaller caliber and later by making long-term investments in oriental football, on all the almost thirty-year sponsorship of Gamba Osaka, the hometown team by Panasonic.
